Love Actually

You know what? I think the movies are right. Partially anyway, and a very big part partially wrong.
They always cast Love as being the most important thing in life,
and I guess it is, just not the way that they show it.
In the movies, love is all about finding someone good looking, that you can fall in love with and live happily ever after together.
In real life, the real important thing is selfless love. The truest love of all.
"There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends" John 15:13
Now that's selfless. I think the problem is, we're all seeking love, instead of giving love. Is love, Love, if it's selfish?
I want to be less selfish. I want to be selfless. But I'm so self absorbed, I think most people are, if they'll just pause and have an honest look at themselves.
I'm trying to focus my life more on Jesus, and ask him for his love to overflow through me so that I may be selfless...
That's my thoughts of the moment.
"If we live at the same level of affluence as others who have our level of income, we are probably giving away too little"
~C.S Lewis

Play the Music low and sway to the rhythm of love
Most people would say their obsessed with music, or at least of a specific variety of music.
This fascinates me. It's like the universal language.
I used to think my obsession was something unusual, or special. Funny how as you get older you realise, the things you thought were weird about yourself really aren't that weird, and you're not as alone as you may ever have thought.
I really do love music though, I love a clever song with genius and occasionally random lyrics. A song that catches in your mind and plays over. I love how it can express the things you thought only you were experiencing, and unite you with the others, reminding you that you're not alone in your heart break. I love how it can inspire and motivate. I love how a song that can take you flying on the wings of your imagination. or how hearing a song can trigger forgotten memories. Taking you back to a time or a place. To a moment of love, or loss. It can bring out emotions that you thought were gone, or help relieve the ones you can't let go of. Music seems to help you feel. Mostly music just fills me with joy. And makes me smile. Occasionally it makes me cry. Music has a strange power. It's like it speaks to our soul... Whatever that means. Because of this it seems important to me, to be a little bit careful about what we listen to, because it lasts a long time... If it's me, It pretty much wont ever be forgotten, and I never know when it will be back.
I don't know if this is normal or not, I think it is, but maybe not quite the same frequency that it happens to me! My mind plays songs to me all the time. Half of the time, I can't figure out what has triggered that specific song. This fascinates me. I've started writing down the lines of lyrics that pop into my head when they do. Poor people on twitter being polluted by my mind music.
"Ai ai ai ai I am a butterfly, I need your protection, be my samurai"
"it's like wishing for rain, as I stand in the desert"
"i'm gettin' near to you because you've got to me, in a way words can't describe, i'm gettin' near to you because I've got to be, you're essential to survive, I'm gonna love you with my life"
"I said hey do you like it like that, I'm the only one who can love you like that"
"Life after hair cuts is too short and the scissors don't care how it looked before"
"I said don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got Till it's gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot"
"Come on, come on Turn a little faster Come on, come on The world will follow after Come on, come on Cause everybody's after love"
"Too much of a good thing, is a good thing. Feelings like this can't be wrong"
"And he shall reign forever and ever, hallelujah, hallelujah, forever forever"
This is yesterday afternoons mix over a period of a couple of hours. Random hey. But It makes my life so much more entertaining, it's sort of like a musical! Somoeone will mention a word, than everyone breaks into a song in my memory and people start doing a syncronised dance!
Okay, So maybe I am weird. But I love it. ;-P

LOVE Baby LOVE
I forget that people read my blog.
I hope I don't offend you.
Most the time I end up ranting about something, usually it's a rant to myself. and maybe say things in a more emotive way than I really mean them. I usually only write when I manage to over think things too much!
I actually LOVE hearing all about what my friends are doing, and the bad things that happen in the lives of people I don't really like. I love a good bit of juicy gossip. I enjoy a dodgy joke. I enjoy coffee and love chocolate whether it's fair trade or not. Me and Chocolate have a love affair, baby. I enjoy shopping for new clothes, I love not thinking about where my Nike's were made or if they were slave labour. I like eating chicken salads.
I try to only eat fair trade chocolate, I've cut meat back out of my life, as I can't stand the thought of eating battery farmed chooks, I try lately to shop at op-shops rather than buy new clothes, I'm trying to cut back on my dodgy jokes, and all the negative things I say about people. They're all my personal battles, and I'm not meaning to criticise any of you, or saying that I don't enjoy my times with all of you where these things happen. I really do.
I don't expect anyone to live life the way I do. These are my personal convictions, and I try to live by them, and I'm sure you all try to live by what you believe and are convicted by.
I find it hard or not really satisfying to just read my bible, some people can do it for hours, I can't. I have to find some way to apply it to my life, the random stuff I think about, how I live etc. So these sermons are for myself. A reminder of where I've been, what I've thought, What goals I've had and kept, or abandoned over time.
I probably should write it all in a journal more often. But I'm too lazy to handwrite things these days. How sad is that. Maybe I should add that to my list of qualities about myself I would like to change...

All My Heart
I've been thinking lately, I want all of my life to overflow with Love. I want to be selfless. Kind.
and I can't do that. No matter how hard I try, there's always a selfish motive.
The only way I can be truely selfless is if Jesus changes my heart and completely rules my life. I've believe in God all my life and have given my life to him officially, and many times over and over again.
But often I just live my life... and don't let him change me.
So I've decided that who I hang out with really changes me, so obviously I need to hang out with God more if I want to be more like him.
As I'm currently on holidays I spend 20 min tanning the front, 20 min on the backside out in the sun most days... (Don't worry I sunscreen up a bit!) and I enjoy that, so i decided to read my bible while doing that. I got out my mums bible and opened up to look at some texts she had underlined and turned to Philippians.
I read the whole book, not that it's very long. It was all about love and living a life of love, so it spoke to me right where I'd been thinking.
"Make my joy complete by being like minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourself, Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus." Philippians 2: 2-5)
I turn on the tv, and the world is falling apart.
I look on facebook, and people are saying "pray for North QLD and the cyclone"
Earthquakes in NZ, Floods in Brisbane and Victoria. Bushfires in WA and Victoria.
I guess it's easy to be scared when everything seems to be going nuts.
I'm not sure where I stand on this all (I'm gonna be completely honnest with you all).
I believe that God has the power to calm storms. I believe that God has power over EVERYTHING. and could do anything, But I also believe that Jesus is coming again, who knows how soon, and that before he comes things are going to get crazy. There'll be wars, famines, earthquakes (Matt 24:-14) and all sorts of crazy natural disasters...
So Although I know God's heart would be breaking for all those people who are scared and worried, and he wants to keep them all safe. I don't know what me praying for them and for the cyclone to go away would do.
Although I believe that those who draw near to God and ask for his protection that he will draw near to them and will protect them through it all.
So there's my confusion on the matter. I spose my human mind is not anywhere near as capable as the creators so it shouldn't be expected to be able to understand how everything works. But the scientist in me wants to.
But God doesn't give a spirit of fear, instead he gives us a spirit of power, love and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7)
Here's a song from my all time favourite artists.
"What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, Who can be against us?"(Romans 8:31)
"The lord is my light, and my strength. Whom shall I be afraid?"
and another one I found along the way...
